After sitting through hundreds of trainings throughout her career, founder of Training Route 3 (TR3), Kimiko Sakuma became curious about why certain workshops left her informed, engaged and excited about learning, while others seemed to lack organization, interaction and connections to material.  This inspired Kimiko to become a training solutions consultant.

Kimiko has a decade’s worth of experience designing engaging and stimulating learning materials. She has applied her skills in corporate, private, start up and nonprofit sectors throughout her career.  Her innovative consulting approach focuses on designing onsite and online course content engagement strategies and Learner Centered curriculum models for companies such as RubiconMD, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), Office Depot, Amgen, University of San Francisco among others which directly enhances knowledge retention, efficiency, process and employee productivity.

As the Lead Consultant, Kimiko strategizes and maps out content using a systematic and iterative process which works with cross functional teams to identify learning objectives, goals and scalable learning solutions. She has expertise developing learning tools that increase learner engagement and knowledge retention such as online micro-learning modules, simulations and gamification. Kimiko is passionate about working on curriculum that promotes diversity and inclusion, women-owned businesses and increasing job opportunities for under represented populations. 

Kimiko has been a participant in the San Francisco Bay Area community and professional organizations such as The Asia Society, Association for Minority Women Professionals (AMWP), Kimochi Inc, Women in Consulting, and Professional Women's Network (PWN). She is also a visual artist. Her artwork has been exhibited in various Bay Area galleries and office buildings.

Kimiko earned her M.A.Ed in Instructional Design from San Francisco State University and B.A. in World Arts & Cultures from The University of California Los Angeles.
